Our campaigns:

Convenient
Community

Traditional Littleton was a town of closely-clustered homes around a vital core of shops and services. Almost everything needed was a short walk, or trolley, from your doorstep. This compact arrangement created a town that was walkable, vibrant with street life, and convenient without needing to drive a car. This “urban-suburban lifestyle” historically served as the foundation for the uniquely community-centric town we love. This was the Littleton of the past, and we say “Yes” to making it the Littleton of the future.

However for the last 50+ years, building new neighborhoods like the ones we already love were outlawed by our outdated zoning code. Littleton’s 1976 land-use rules supported unsustainable and disconnected “suburban sprawl” development.

Instead, Vibrant Littleton advocates for a return to a “convenient community” model of development, including:

COMPACT DEVELOPMENT
• reducing/removing set-backs and costly parking mandates in all new development

PRO-PEOPLE AND NEIGHBORS
• elevating voices that welcome more neighbors and more homes close to nearby businesses within walking distance

EXPANDED HOME TYPES
• zoning codes that allow more housing types in every neighborhood

NEIGHBORHOOD RETAIL
• legalizing ground floor shops and services near every neighborhood so we can walk/roll to them

Walking &
Wheeling

white can travelers on Prince St

We want contemporary Littleton residents to enjoy everyday life centered on walking and wheeling—not driving—using comfortable streets and sidewalks. We want pathways that are safe for all ages and abilities, not just for automobiles.

To help make Littleton a town where walking and wheeling is a great option for everyday life, Vibrant Littleton seeks to:

REDUCE CAR SPEEDS
• slower speed limits mean safer, quieter city streets

ADD MORE BIKE LANES
• add protected bike lanes on all major routes

BETTER SIDEWALKS & CROSSWALKS
• prioritize safer crossings and ADA-compliant sidewalks everywhere

REMOVE COSTLY PARKING RULES
• minimize costly parking mandates from zoning rules

MAKE PLACES FOR PEOPLE
• discourage drive-throughs and other car-focused development

Abundant
Housing

Prentice St, Littleton - Two multifamily buildings on Prentice Street - an example of abundant housing policies that allowed more homes where just one existed before.

Vibrant Littleton advocates for abundant—as opposed to restrictive—housing policies. We embrace housing abundance so that Littleton can be a place that welcomes all kinds of homes for all kinds of people, incomes, and needs. We wholeheartedly agree with Littleton’s Comprehensive Plan: “A key component of a city’s livability is whether its residents can find suitable and economical housing options at all stages of life...”

Vibrant Littleton actively supports:

SMALLER HOMES, TOO
building more smaller condos and apartments that better serve younger and older people

ADDING MORE FOR LOW INCOME FOLKS
incentivizing developers to add below-market rate homes across the city

DOING OUR HOUSING PART
taking our share of home construction in a region that is growing

SUPPORTIVE HOMES RIGHT HERE
permanent supportive housing and micro-units right here in our community
