No Way on 3A

How will 3A hurt?

❌ Makes it harder for our kids and grandkids to find homes in Littleton

By limiting all future homes to only the largest, most expensive type (single-family detached house), Question 3A prevents our city from building the kind of smaller homes that younger people and seniors need to live near their Littleton loved ones. Passing 3A means the loss of even more young families from Littleton, hurting our school district and increasing our property tax share.

Small condo or shared duplex home for grads? NOPE

❌ Restricts homeowners’ freedom

Ballot Question 3A will strip residents of our right to add an in-law unit for an aging parent. It takes away your family’s ability to build a garden cottage or convert a garage to living space to meet your needs. It limits Littleton’s housing options at the worst moment: when we already face high costs and limited options.

In-law unit or garden cottage for aging parent? Can't Do!

❌ Locks all Littleton residential uses to 2025 – indefinitely

Question 3A will roll back and limit Littleton homeowners’ land uses to a fixed date – January 1, 2025 – and locks it there. This freezes ALL rules about property uses – solar panels, backyard chickens, in-home daycare and more. This turns Littleton into something like an HOA, where even changing things like beekeeping rules would require a full citywide vote.

Update solar panel rules? Needs Constitutional amendment

❌ Politicizes Littleton’s constitution – and wastes taxpayer dollars

Question 3A inserts land use restrictions into Littleton’s City Charter, our city’s ‘Constitution,’ where land use rules don’t belong. This means any future updates will require costly, complex referendum campaigns to modify–even slightly. And worse, 3A will place Littleton in violation of state laws. This means losing Colorado grant funds and bringing potential lawsuits – a waste of taxpayer dollars and reducing Littleton’s share of state revenue.

Ballot Question 3A Language

Shall Section 65.5 Preservation of Neighborhood Land Use Restrictions, be added to clarify the intent of the citizens to preserve single-family residential land use and ensure that current and future owners of property in certain residential zoning districts may rely on restrictions on land uses that protect their properties. Accordingly, land uses of properties presently permitted under the Littleton Unified Land Use Code (ULUC) within zoning districts Small Lot Residential (SLR), Medium Lot Residential (MLR), Large Lot Residential (LLR), and Acreage Residential (ACR) are limited to uses specified therein as of January 1, 2025. Furthermore, any action by council to initiate any comprehensive rezoning and official zoning map amendment, including text changes, shall first require notification to all affected property owners by First Class mail delivered by the United State Postal Service. Nothing herein shall prohibit or prevent a property owner from seeking rezoning of the owner’s property.
